Space 220 Review

We finally got a chance to visit Space 220!! Here’s our full and honest review!

We were very impressed when we checked in! Everything was well organized. The entrance once checked in was very welcoming and well-themed!

Once we got out of the “Stellarvator” (loving the name) and got to Space (restaurant) our first impression was that the restaurant was way smaller than we’d seen in pictures. The monitors where you can see Earth were not as exciting as we expected instead already appearing with a slight blur.

We had reservations at the Lounge side. We were offered the prix fixe lunch or Lounge Menu items. We opted for the Lounge Menu. The option for either shocked us and was definitely something that impressed us.

The overall first look was an 8/10.

Drink Choices-

The drinks were ok, they were:

LIGHTYEAR LEMONADE ($12)- Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade, Butterfly Pea Tea, Mint (non-alcoholic).

MOON ROCKS ($12) - Coconut, Blue Cotton Candy Syrup, Lemonade, Moon Dust, Moon Rocks (non-alcoholic).

Both drinks came with collectible trading cards. They were cute and make for great souvenirs.

The Lightyear Lemonade was very Instagram-able but lacked any special flavors, It felt like someone simply put a bit of food coloring into a pitcher of lemonade and poured it to us.

The Moon Rocks were our favorite drink. The flavors were not anything we had tried before and after throwing the attached pop rocks in before taking a sip the flavor was even more amazing. (If you try this please be aware that this can become a choking hazard if you are not careful).

For drinks, we would rate this a 6/10. Price is a huge factor in this. We felt as if we were paying alcoholic beverage prices for such basic drinks.

Food Choices-

Our food picks were

CHICKEN ON WAFFLE ($18)

Fried Chicken, Smoked Bacon and Roasted Corn Waffle, Spiced Coleslaw, Bourbon Maple Glaze and

SHORT RIB SLIDERS ($18)

White Cheddar Cheese, Sriracha Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, Butter Pickles

The Chicken on Waffle had the most special of flavors to us. The glaze had an excellent taste and made the dish that much better. We were HIGHLY disappointed though when we looked at the chicken itself and recognized the same chicken tenders that remain as comfort foods at most WDW quick-service restaurants. We are unsure if we received the wrong dish or if this was a purposeful change but it was an unfortunate find.

The Short Rib Sliders were a complete letdown. Sitting at $18 we were sure they would contain a glaze or oil that would give us a unique flavor of some sort. After a few bites, we were sad to discover the taste mimicked one of some outside of WDW table service restaurants. Additionally, we struggled to get a decent photo of the meal in its original set up. Unfortunately there was nothing in the meal that could justify its $18 price tag.

The eats from this lounge sadly receive a solid 3/10. It was enjoyable but the prices could not be justified.

Service-

Our server was amazing! She greeted us kindly and wasn't overly chatty (we personally get a little shy so enjoy a quiet server).

We were served "Space Water" upon arrival and shown a QR code to view the menu to order our meals. Once our server took our order within a few minutes our drinks appeared and soon after our food.

Overall the service was a 10/10. We found some of the kindest cast members there!

If you are still interested in going to this experience or any table service experience during your stay please remember 20% tips are customary in America and still apply in the Disney bubble!

Ambiance-

So let's get into the ambiance of the restaurant overall. The space was smaller so it wasn't ridiculously loud, but because of the lack of space, the area felt cramped. At one point our chairs would be touching chairs from two other tables at the same time.

The screens around the restaurant as we stated earlier were a bit lackluster. They were blurry and the little "easter eggs", that would appear on the screen would disappear so fast by the time you could tell your dining partner to look they would be gone.

There wasn't any special music like we see at Be Our Guest with the "Beauty and The Beast" music playing throughout the restaurant at different tones depending on the room.

Additionally other than the screens, there wasn't much to look at.

Ambiance receives a low 2/10

Keeping It real.

We were underwhelmed by this restaurant. It is extremely hard to get a reservation here and it failed to live up to our expectations.

Through a mean average, we got a 58/100 from the points we gave them, which is more easily read at around a 6/10 experience.

This restaurant is not one we believe we will visit again soon. But everyone is different.

Our Suggestion? Go in for drinks. Get the feeling of that first entrance, enjoy the exceptional service but save your snack money for somewhere else!
